Where to stay in San Francisco:

There are countless options for lodging in San Francisco, but here are some of our favorites.

1. The Inn San Franciso — This bed and breakfast is right around the corner from our apartment. It's lovely and adorable and has a hottub in the backyard. It also books up quickly and it requires you to be refined, reserved, well-behaved, and very quiet in the evenings/night time.
2. Elements Hostel — This youth hostel is about 2.5 blocks away from our apartment right in the heart of the Mission (the best neighborhood in SF, if we do say so ourselves). That might be the best thing we can say about it, having never seen the inside. It's not reviewed spectacularly, but not horribly either and it is cheap and nearby.
3. Villa Florence — This hotel is located right at Union Square, a major touristy shopping area in the city very close to downtown. It is also only a couple of blocks from the BART which you can take to get to the Mission, where we live. We are including it here because Sharon's parents usually stay in this hotel and have had nice experiences there. Like most boutique hotels, the rooms are small but charming and relatively reasonably priced, and the service is good. There are free wine tastings daily in the lobby, and you can't really beat that.
4. Hostels— There are several other hostels around the city providing pleasant and cheap accommodations. You can find and book them all through this site. Please feel free to get in touch with us if you have any questions about the locations.
5. Hotels — There are gazillions of other hotel options. The Klimpton Boutique Hotels are usually quite nice. Again, feel free to ask us if you have any questions about locations.
6. Hotels — The other set of nice boutique hotels in town are the Joie de Vivre Hotels.
7. Priceline.com — last, but not least, you can always take a gamble with priceline. Priceline allows you to name your price and your requirements and they will book you a hotel that meets your needs. I've never used them, but people swear by it for getting a nice room at a low rate!
